To eat, or NOT to eat?

To eat, or NOT to eat is a question I have asked myself many times lately.

I must confess I have had a raging appetite lately.  So bad that I decided I needed a little Appetite Control Intervention, so I broke out the AdvoCare ThermoPlus, which is a weight-loss enhancer that stimulates your metabolism AND curbs your appetite!  I absolutely LOVE this stuff!

We've been out of town several times over the last few weeks, and that alone can absolutely sabotage one's clean eating efforts.  I gained 6 pounds over one 4 day weekend!  Imagine the food I must have consumed.  My husband and I took our Youth Group to a Banquet in Kentucky, where there are no restaurants for 30 miles, all the food is country home cooking, and you just have to eat it!  I must admit, it was delicious, but the pounds were not worth it.  That's what I want to talk about in this post.

I am an experienced "on-the-go" eater, I've learned many good tricks along my journey and good food choices.  Now sometimes I choose not to make the best choices because I want to treat myself or enjoy my mini-vacations.  I always look at getaway's as a treat!  However, there IS a balance in this!  I know that I stay on track best when I plan ahead!  I didn't do that in this case!

A few things I should have done were:

~Ask ahead of time what kind of food was to be served and planned my menu accordingly.
~Brought my own snacks or meals to cut out several HUNDRED calories and fat grams.
~Controlled the portion sizes of the food I did eat there, better, and not gorged out because it was so good!

You truly have to be mentally prepared for these types of things.  I know this for a fact.

Well I realized that I'd better just do that in the next couple of weeks when we went out of town for another Banquet again.  I did stick to a much healthier meal plan, but there were some really delicious foods prepared by our friends that I just couldn't resist!  That would be so rude, wouldn't it? ;)
I did good, only gaining about a pound or two. (I forgot to mention that between the 2 trips, I did manage to lose about 4 pounds of the 6 that I gained!)

Well, here we are, been back from our last trip about 6 days and I have lost 4 lbs just by going to back to my clean eating habits and working out 2 times this week.  Two times is not enough, but I was just too busy this week!

The main thing is this....if you splurge, binge, or make a total flop of your diet, just get right back on it.  Quitting and giving up will never yield you the results you are wanting, but getting back up and moving forward will, even if it's slow, you're still moving FORWARD!  Understand that you will slip up and indulge, and you SHOULD.  You have to enjoy life, but you control those things, don't let them control YOU!

So my question to you is....To eat, or NOT to eat?

In the next post I'm going to talk about food ideas and meal planning, and some of my favorite recipes and tips, etc.  Stay posted!

Background on my weight loss

Some of you know my story of weight loss and weight struggle, but since we're moving to a new blog I will give a little background on it for all the new followers.

I've struggled with weight since I was 12 years old.  I just started to gain weight, ALL in my tummy, which really looked weird!  I battled to lose weight, but didn't know how, so I continued to gain and gain and gain.  I tried many unsuccessful "diets" over the next 4 years.  I'd lose a little, gain more back.  Well, I finally conquered that when I was 16.  I educated myself on weight loss and exercise, learned about foods and how to cook healthy.  I lost 35 pounds over 7-8 months by just eating healthy and exercising.  I kept that off until I got married a few years later, then gained about 35 pounds because of some medication I was taking after we got married....it wasn't just from getting married!  Then I decided I had to come off that medicine and do something.  With the help of a prescription appetite suppressant, I was able to lose 25 pounds, started looking and feeling good again....and then I found out I was pregnant with our first little angel!  And so this is where my REAL MAJOR weight gain and loss begins..........

While I was pregnant with Aleah, I gained a lot of weight.  When I say a LOT, I mean 95 pounds!  That's almost another person!  I had a medical condition called Preeclampsia, which causes your blood pressure to go high, and you gain water weight from horrible swelling.  Then I was put on bed rest for the last 3 months of my pregnancy, of which I spent 2 of those months IN THE HOSPITAL.  Not fun.  All I could do was sit in a bed and eat, so I gained more weight!  Well I finally had our little Aleah and then I started trying to get the weight off.  Worked hard to lose 65 pounds within the next 12 months, then found out Connor was on his way!  I did a little better that time, gaining only 65 pounds, which is a lot better than 95, but remember I only lost 65 of the 95 from before, so I still was carrying the extra 30 around and weighed the same, 245 pounds by the time I delivered.

I was SO SICK of being SO HUGE and FEELING MISERABLE.  Being overweight is not just devastating to your vanity, but it also just makes you feel terrible.  Being a healthy weight is more than just pampering your vanity, it's about feeling good physically, mentally...knowing you have more energy and you're healthy.

Anyway....I vowed I would not get pregnant again until I got every pound of it off and maintained it!  And I was successful this time!  It took me 17 months, but I lost 105 pounds!  Yes, that's right!  And I felt wonderful!  I maintained that weight for about 6-7 months, then we decided to go ahead and complete our family with baby number 3, our little Makagan!

I tried everything I could to not gain any excess weight.  Exercised during pregnancy as I could, ate very healthy, but I still gained 65 pounds!  My doctor told me it was just how my body reacted to pregnancy hormones, I would always gain a lot of weight.  :(

But it was a lot better because I started at a low weight.  I felt better than the other pregnancies weight-wise.  After she was born, I lost almost all that weight again in about 10 months, but I could not get the last stubborn few pounds off.  I would lose it, but it would keep coming right back. about 5-10 pounds, and I would maintain that.  Then a few months ago a friend introduced me to AdvoCare and I started taking their products.

I did the 24 Day Challenge and lost 10 lbs AND 11 inches!  GO ME!  I drink SPARK everyday, which helps me have a lot of energy, decreases my appetite and just makes me feel better.  I became a distributor of AdvoCare because I seen that these products work great!  I get a discount just for being a distributor, which helps pay for my products.  My husband did the 10 day Herbal Cleanse alone and lost 10 lbs!  My mom lost 10 lbs, too.  Oh, there are a bunch of my friends who did the challenge, and some on it right now, and all have excellent results!

I have finally come to the place where I am satisfied with my weight.  I think it's important for people to be happy and content with their weight, no matter what the number says on the scale.  Pay attention to your clothes.  I am at a healthy body weight for my height, and feel very healthy, and that is what matters!

I continue to take AdvoCare MNS Max 3 or C.  That helps with appetite control and energy as well.  I am a member of the YMCA, so I work out there, too.  The elliptical is my best friend! :)  It's a fast way to burn max calories in half the time as the treadmill!

Well, that's as short as I could make this post.  Stay posted for LOTS more to come, including pictures, recipes, meal ideas, and encouragement!
